Graduate Assistant--Research and Program Development

Full-Time Graduate Assistant – Research and Program Development
Latin American, Latino, and Caribbean Center

Duties/Responsibilities:
·        Works with Center Director, Faculty, and undergraduates to provide research assistance to Center faculty and staff
·        Works with Center Director and faculty to organize research conference and academic programming (e.g. Grito de Lares Day, Living in Las Americas conference, Cesar Chavez Day, and related activities)
·        Review and maintain Research resources listing on the LALCC website
Monitor LALCC e-mail
Assist in implementing research program related Center academic areas

Other responsibilities include:
·        Creation of artistic concepts, development and design of brochures, posters, booklets, flyers, charts, graphs as part of in-house LALCC projects
Monitor LALCC Library
·        Attend events representing the LALCC
·        Assist office staff as needed

Qualifications:
·        Pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree at Central Connecticut State University related to some aspect of Latin American or Latino Studies or related fields
·       Registered as a Full-Time student with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA
·       Applicants shall not be engaged in significant employment outside of the University; a full-time Graduate Assistant should not hold full-time employment elsewhere or be engaged in a full-time (20 hours) internship or practicum.
·        Strong written and oral communication skills, public speaking, organization, and data management
Ability to communicate in Spanish and/or Portuguese as well as English
·        Excellent organizational skills
·        Highly detailed
·        Ability to manage multiple projects independently
·        Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, Adobe, and all aspects of social media

Position Information:
·        Student will work 20 hours/week for the Fall and Spring semester
·        The position may continue at the capacity of “Student Worker” for summer and winter sessions

Graduate Assistant Compensation:
·        Full-time students receive a stipend TBD
·        University fees are waived except for accident insurance
