Graduate Assistant - Student Disability Services

• Respond to student inquiries and assist incoming, transfer and current students with the registration process to
request accommodations
• Support Disability Specialists by reviewing disability related documentation
• Research and keep current on emerging disability related assistive technology, best practices and tools
• Train students how to use assistive technology recommended by Student Disability Services
• Assist with the development of special instructional materials and/or adaptation of existing material as needed
• Assist with exam services and the exam administration process including serving as a proctor, scribe or reader as needed
• Provide individual support to students; help them develop academic support strategies as needed
• Assist with the development and revision of policies and procedures for accessing and utilizing accommodations to ensure they are clearly delineated and disseminated to the campus community
• Review, update and organize the Student Disability Services website
• Assist in raising awareness and promoting Student Disability Services to students and the campus community
through the creation of promotional materials, workshops and virtual videos
• Maintain confidentiality in compliance with FERPA

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation, Student Personnel, Counseling, or related field
• Experience in providing service to students with disabilities
• Knowledge of the Americans with Disability Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
• Demonstrated skill in advocating for students with disabilities
• Demonstrated experience with assistive technology and/or overall computer use
• Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
• Demonstrated excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to act independently
